🍹How I Made the Perfect Iced Tea for the Heatwave

🍹How I Made the Perfect Iced Tea for the Heatwave

Sometimes the best drinks are the simplest ones.

We've just come through one of the most glorious heatwaves of the year — and while we love a beautifully brewed hot cup of tea as much as anyone, there are days when only something cold, fruity, and refreshing will do.

This was one of those weeks.

So we did what felt natural — we turned to our Strawberry & Kiwi loose leaf tea, and made a cold brew. And it turned out to be one of the easiest, most satisfying drinks we've made in a long time.

Why cold brew?

Cold brewing is exactly what it sounds like — instead of steeping your tea in hot water, you let it slowly infuse in cold water over a few hours in the fridge.

The result is completely different from hot-brewed iced tea. There's no bitterness, no astringency — just a smooth, naturally sweet, incredibly clean flavour. The fruity notes in the Strawberry & Kiwi tea come through beautifully this way, without anything harsh getting in the way.

It also couldn't be simpler to make.

What you'll need

A clip-top glass jar works perfectly for this — it seals well and looks lovely in the fridge.

How to make it

Step 1 — Add your tea to the jar. Use approximately one teaspoon of loose leaf tea per 200ml of water. You can adjust this to taste — a little more tea gives a stronger, fruitier flavour.

Step 2 — Add cold water. Fill your jar with cold water straight from the tap or fridge. No boiling, no waiting for water to cool down. Just cold water, straight in.

Step 3 — Seal and refrigerate. Close your jar and place it in the fridge. Leave it for a minimum of 6 hours — overnight works beautifully if you want it ready for the next day.

Step 4 — Strain and pour. Place a strainer over your glass and pour the cold brew through it. This removes the loose leaf tea completely, leaving you with a beautifully clear, smooth drink.

Step 5 — Sweeten to taste. Once poured, add a drizzle of honey and stir gently until dissolved. This is entirely personal — add as little or as much as feels right to you. We found it made all the difference.

Step 6 — Serve. Add a generous handful of ice and fresh slices of strawberry and kiwi on top to decorate. It makes the drink look as good as it tastes and adds a lovely fresh touch.

And if you have little ones at home — we can confirm this went down very well with the kids too. A fun, fruity, and naturally made drink the whole family can enjoy. Perfect for the school holidays. 🍓

Then find a sunny spot and enjoy. You've earned it. ☀️

A little note on the honey

We tried this without honey first — and while the natural flavour of the tea is genuinely lovely, we found it had a slight tartness that we wanted to soften just a little. A small drizzle of honey made all the difference. But if you prefer your drinks on the sharper, more natural side, skip it entirely — it's delicious either way.

The result

Smooth, fruity, and beautifully refreshing. The kind of drink that makes a hot afternoon feel like exactly the right time to slow down and indulge in a quiet moment.

Which, when you think about it, is exactly what Indulgence is all about.
